The Book Thief Read Along Sign Ups

So,  The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I've been meaning to read this one forever. But it's sad, and intimidating, and long, and intimidating, and... I've just felt really intimidated by it. I mean, look at it:

Maybe he has bad breath. Look how far away she's standing.

But it's time. With the help of the lovely Suey and Kami, we're co-hosting a Book Thief read along for the month of September. And we'd love for you to join! Whether you're like me, and have never read it, or like Suey, and rereading it for the third time, this is the read along for you. :)

We'll be splitting the book up into sections and hosting three discussion posts throughout the month of September. You can do one, or all, or just read along with us.  Sound interesting? You can sign up using the linky below. It's the same list on Suey's, Kami's, and my blog, so you only need to sign up once.

We hope you'll join us!

  1. I'm so excited for everyone who is reading it for the first time! There is something magical about experiencing a brilliant book for the first time!

    1. I know! I'm trying very hard (now) to stay away from spoilers so I can experience everything on my own.
Unless it gets too intense. Then I'll have to read spoilers... :)

  2. I am like you. I haven't read it yet either. Although, I was about 200 pages in when I get distracted and moved on to other things. I'll be excited to experience this for the first time with you. :)

  3. That is a bit of a spooky cover, but I love it! Anyway, here's hoping once you get reading that you like this book and "get" it...and chance your mind about the intimidation! (Have you read any of Markus Zusak's books? I forget...)

    1. I hope so, too! I read I Am the Messenger, which I loved until the very end. Then I felt a bit snookered. I think that's one of those endings you either love or hate. :)
But I'm going to have fun reading with you guys regardless.

  4. This book, at least for me, was a very quick read. I could not put it down. My kids may have been neglected those few days. And, the way it was written was intense, but not in a Glass Castle, I cannot handle this kind of way. It is an amazing, brilliant book that I think will easily set aside all your fears. Enjoy!
