Follow Friday

This week's Follow Friday question is:

Q. If you could change the ending of any book (or series), which book would you choose? And, why?

I don't usually wish that most books ended differently, even when I want more (or something different) from the book. I actually really like it when an author doesn't give readers exactly what they were hoping for (like The Hunger Games series, or Possession by Elana Johnson).

But I would change Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. Uglies was so good, and Pretties was pretty good. But by the time I read Specials it was almost like reading about different characters. I think it became more about cool tech and adventures than about the characters, and I liked that less.

How about you? Happy Friday!

I'm here to return the follow favor :-)
Happy Friday! I agree: authors shouldn't ALWAYS give the readers what they want..well, unless maybe you buy a HEA-romance book and then don't get your happy ending. That sure would suck haha.

  2. Thanks for stopping by!

I like when authors don't give you what you are expecting...but I like endings that fit the characters! If a character (or group of characters) does something unlike them at the end...I don't like it.

  3. New follower! This series is on my tbr list!

  5. Being the maverick that I am, I penciled in my own addition to this week’s Follow Friday question and then answered it.

Change the ending of a book? No way, no how.

From the perspective of a reader – it never even dawned on me. As a writer I find the notion sacrilegious.

Wait! I can explain! Follow me back to my blog for all the verbosity –

    Happy Labor Day Weekend!

  6. Hi Kathy,

Thanks for stopping by. I don't mind most of the ending of THG. I am still in love with the series but I just thought it was so rough what happened to Gale. I honestly didn't think he was a bad guy.

PS. Your son is so cute even with the cast. Hope he's ok.

  7. I had to stop after just took me too long to get into the book. I liked the end of it though. I haven't read Possession...I'm hearing mixed reviews.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  8. Ahh... My friend lent me Uglies over the summer, and I couldn't finish it. I got to page 60ish and was so bored that I just sent it back to her. But it's sad that the characters got less emphasis as the series went on.

I also agree with you about mostly liking the ending the authors intended; only a few irked me. Happy weekend :D!

  9. Ooh, good thought on the Pretties. I forgot about that. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm a new follower here. I want to read Crossed so bad, but I'm not signing up because I'd want to keep it! :-)

  10. Sorry it took me so long to come by and comment. This weekend was crazy!

I haven't read Uglies yet. I want to. I hope the series doesn't disappoint me.
